18 Feb 2016
Discussing what it means to be a great role model was a way for me to establish my expectations early in the year.  This was turned in to a wall display, which we can continue to refer to as the year goes on.

Four students were chosen to cook sausages for lunch (for three classes).  This was in recognition of the fact they had won 'Room 6 Survivor' during our camp to Sixtus Lodge.  In the past we've given food prizes for such things, but we have decided to reward students in other ways.

5-6 September 2016
Along with the Principal, I spent two days reviewing and updating our school EOTC Guidelines and Policies to reflect the new Health and Safety Regulations.

16 September 2016
I prepared a comprehensive Safety Plan for kayaking, which we'll be doing during our class camp to Nydia Bay later in the year.

March 2017
In preparation for a white water rafting trip, there was a lot of paperwork to prepare to help ensure the safety of the students.  This is the first time I have had to organise a one-off event like this (since the new Health & Safety regulations came out).  Here is a copy of the permission slip that parents had to sign:

One of the ways I ensure students feel safe in my class, is to establish a positive rapport based on mutual respect and a sense of fun.  We have lots of laughs in Room 6.  This is a photo from Crazy Day - the last day of Term 1.

30 May 2017
We did not have a staff meeting today, so instead I visited Feilding High School, where a number of our students participate in a robotics programme.  By showing an interest in what these students are involved in, I am developing a good rapport and strong relationship with the students involved.
