LONG TERM PLAN
Term 3, 2015
End of 2015
I take great pride in my classroom environment and take special care in displaying student work on the walls. These photos were taken just before everything was removed for the end of the school year:
3rd Feb 2016
Today I reviewed the writing genre of personal recounts with the class. We brainstormed the features of a personal recount before I modelled how to effectively plan your writing. I then wrote an example of a first paragraph, before the students did the same. Using the information we brainstormed, I have made a guide sheet that will go on the wall listing the key features of a personal recount. Students can refer to this throughout the year. Here is a photo of the modelled writing I wrote on the board:
Term 3 2016
My maths LTP reflects coverage of all strands and is a 'working' document. I can make adjustments as necessary to ensure the plan reflects what is actually being taught.
Term 2-3 2016
I organised and oversaw the running of our Technology programme for our Year 7 & 8 students. This involved four rotations of five weeks each (soft materials - sewing, hard materials - woodwork, food technology and ICT). The students thoroughly enjoyed the Tech pogramme.
3 April 2017
As part of our learning in science, today we used microscopes and magnifying glasses to examine and study insects. Students had to make statements about each bug, and draw a small sketch. This activity reinforced some important aspects of the science curriculum around observing, identifying and classifying.
1 June 2017
Today we had a visit from the Red Ravens Medieval Group. This was a kick-starter for our inquiry into Medieval Europe. The visitors shared a lot of information about the weapons used by soldiers, and the students were fully engaged.
